If you grew up in the 80th, you will for sure know the film „the name of the rose“ featuring Sean Connery. Some of the interior scenes have been filmed at Eberbach Abbey. This historical place is located in the Rheingau region, about 45 minutes in the west of Frankfurt, Germany. If you are in the area, it’s worth to pay a visit – not only to walk the hallowed grounds but also to enjoy and buy great local vines. My personal favoriote is the Assmannshäuser Höllenberg, a sublime Pinot Noir.
